How to install the cable management rack clips in the server rack

To install cable management rack clips, select the appropriate bracket for your rack depth, align it with the rack units, and secure it using the provided screws.

Step 1: Choose the Correct Cable Management Bracket

Server racks often come with two types of cable management bars: a wider bar for shorter-depth racks and a shorter bar for deeper racks. Select the bar that matches your rack's depth to ensure proper fit and alignment . Each bracket typically occupies three EIA units vertically.

Step 2: Mark Screw Locations

Hold the bracket against the inside of the rack flange where you plan to install it. Using a sticker or pen, mark the middle hole of each of the three EIA units on both sides of the rack flange. This ensures accurate alignment when fastening the bracket .

Step 3: Assemble the Bracket

Attach the cable management bar to the bracket using the M3 screws provided. Ensure the bar is securely fastened before mounting it to the rack .

Step 4: Attach the Bracket to the Rack

  1. Position one side of the assembled bracket against the rack flange, aligning it with the marked screw locations.
  2. From inside the rack, insert the screws through the rack flange into the bracket. Repeat for all three screws on that side.
  3. Repeat the process for the opposite side of the bracket .

Step 5: Adjust and Secure

Once installed, you can adjust the bracket by loosening the thumbscrews and tilting it to the desired angle. This allows for optimal cable routing and accessibility .

Step 6: Route and Organize Cables

  • Plan cable paths to separate power and data cables and avoid tangling .
  • Use Velcro straps or reusable fasteners to bundle cables neatly without over-tightening .
  • Label cables at both ends using color-coded tags or adhesive labels for easy identification and maintenance .
  • Ensure cables do not block airflow to prevent overheating .

Step 7: Final Inspection

After installation, check that all screws are tight, brackets are stable, and cables are routed cleanly. Make sure there is enough slack for future adjustments or equipment changes .

Following these steps ensures a secure, organized, and accessible cable management system in your server rack, improving airflow, maintenance efficiency, and overall reliability.
