Huawei's Fiber to Electrical Port Modules are designed to interface optical fiber networks with electrical ports, allowing both data transmission and Power over Ethernet (PoE) through a single connection. These modules are commonly used in enterprise networks to connect hybrid optical-electrical switches to access points (APs) or remote units (RUs), simplifying deployment and reducing cabling complexity .

Hybrid Cable Integration

Huawei offers first- and second-generation hybrid cables that combine optical fibers and copper cores:

  • First-generation hybrid cables (1.0) require separate connections: LC connectors for optical data and RJ45 or Phoenix connectors for electrical PoE. They are typically indoor-only and require onsite assembly and fusion splicing for optical fibers .
  • Second-generation hybrid cables (2.0) simplify installation by using a PDLC connector that plugs directly into a hybrid optical-electrical port on the device. This allows simultaneous data and PoE delivery without separate connectors, supporting both direct AP connections and HDF-based deployments .

SFP Electrical Port Modules

Huawei also provides SFP-GE-T modules (e.g., Model 02314BDD) that convert fiber signals to electrical Ethernet ports. Key features include:
